ABOUT NEM ZAGREB

An event “About TV series & film creation"

ABOUT NEM ZAGREB

After years of organizing the most significant TV industry event in the CEE, NEM Dubrovnik, Mediavision decided that NEM Zagreb, an event “About TV series & film creation” is the next natural step.

NEM Zagreb is focused on content creation in the low-production capacity countries of the CEE. After the inaugural edition in 2019 and the truly memorable one in 2022, NEM Zagreb is returning in 2023 to again link European decision-makers with audiovisual industry specialists. The potential of CEE-based TV series and films, as well as the gap in the worldwide market, was detected nearly four years ago. Now NEM Zagreb has the opportunity to expand its concept thanks to the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) and the requirements it places on large broadcasters. NEM Zagreb 2023 is co-funded by the European Union, through the Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme.

Zagreb, Croatia, was chosen due to its accessibility and the advantageous location at the center of Europe and the CEE.  NEM Zagreb is bringing all the major and well-known industry brands to the area and establishing CEE as a hub for talent that hasn’t yet been identified, as well as for high-quality non-English material.

MAIN GOALS

Main goals of the event is to educate, connect and promote professionals, companies, and projects from the CEE. NEM Zagreb is creating opportunities for new projects, jobs, co-productions between CEE countries and co-production between low and high-production capacity countries. Also, content acquisitions within and outside the CEE, as well as investments by European or global streamers into CEE original content.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2023?

Except for screenings, content showcase, panel discussions, presentations, networking and workshops. NEM Zagreb organizes “NEM Contest” which is a script contest in four categories. Also, “NEM Awards” will be held for the first time during our third edition. New competition for the best drama TV series from the CEE. The winner will be chosen by jury members from countries outside of the CEE (mostly high-capacity production countries) to ensure the fairness in rating the submission.

Finally, NEM Zagreb arranges market exchanges through the network of international markets and TV festivals in Europe.

Preferential prices and NEM Awards are available only to CEE countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine
