Specializing in the audiovisual and theatrical copyright business with over 25 years of experience, Sydney Borjas has held various key roles in the industry. He served as the Director of Business Affairs & Legal at the International Production Company ICAIC, participating in over 60 international audiovisual co-productions. He was also responsible for the Cibermedia Program in Madrid under the IBERMEDIA PROGRAM, and he served as the Director of Audiovisual Strategy at La Central Digital, overseeing cable TV channels and digital content distribution in Europe and America. Furthermore, he managed the Buñuel Institute – Fundación Autor and served as the Manager of Performing Arts at the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores.
As the CEO of SCENIC RIGHTS, he has been involved in several TV series and Films, handling various responsibilities related to rights management and talent packaging. Some notable projects include “Promises of sand” (TVE), “Hernán: the man” (Amazon, A&E, Azteca TV), “The Vineyard” (Amazon), “The Cook of Castamar” (Atresmedia), “Magic for Humans Spain: Mago Pop” (Netflix), “Invitation to a murder” (Netflix), “Where the tracks end” (Netflix), “Thursday´s widows” (Netflix), among others. Additionally, he has overseen Business Affairs & Legal for numerous theater and musical projects in Spain, Latin America, Broadway, and the West End.
Sydney has served as a member of various international juries in the audiovisual industry and has been a professor for various courses and master’s programs at universities in Spain and Latin America, as well as at film and TV schools and international organizations. He has also contributed as an author to the Legal and Financial Guides for the Audiovisual and Performing Arts sectors published by Fundación Autor, as well as “Copyright in the audiovisual work” published by the UOC.
