Slovak director and producer who gets creatively involved in the scripts of his projects. He directed commercials and music videoclips and assisted in Hollywood movie productions. He wrote and directed his first semi-professional TV (mini) series at the age of 19. In the year 2006 he founded his own film production company Fog’n’Desire Films which has its base in Prague. In addition to that, he also worked at the Slovak production company Sokol Kollár until 2017. In the year 2016 the feature film Červený kapitán (The red Captain), had its premiere. The movie reached its audience records that same year and became the first Slovak film to have an international premiere at the competition of the Black Nights action festival in Tallin. It was sold to over 8 countries including Amazon Prime for the USA, Canada, the UK; and in neighbouring Poland it was coined an “unexpected Slovak exemplar of the European movie genre” by a part of the critique. In 2022 he directed a miniseries Ultimátum, which is the first coproduction of private TV JOJ and public Czech Television. In March of 2023 a feature film comedy Villa Lucia premiered. Michal Kollár is a member of the European producers’ club ACE, the associate of EAVE and represented Slovakia as the Producer on the move. He created or co-produced 14 feature films. Almost all of them gained awards from the Czech or Slovak Academy and premiered at renown world festivals. Since 2017, he functions at the KFS production company.
