Marija Nemčić started working at HRT-Croatian Radiotelevision in 1986 as a journalist in the News and Current Affairs program, and very quickly became Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Infotainment’ program, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the program during the war in Croatia. In 1992, she was elected as the Program Director of Croatian Television. From 1996 to 2004, she was Head of the International Relations Department and became active in various broadcasting organizations. She managed the CIRCOM Regional (the regional television association of Europe), was elected President of the Television Committee of the European Broadcasting Union, and a member of the EBU Executive Board.
From 2004 to 2007, she was Director of Croatian Television, and from 2012 to 2015, she managed the entire HRT production. It is interesting to note that she was the first female TV Director at HRT, as well the first woman to chair an EBU Committee.
She currently heads the HRT International Relations Department and is involved in the production of entertainment shows and special projects. This year she also received the HRT Lifetime Achievement Award.
