Jorge Sermini was born and raised in the island of Puerto Rico where he studied opera at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico and has a Masters in Opera Performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jorge just premiered a horror short he directed in Ramaskrik IFF (part of the Méliès Federation), Daughter, shot in Belgium. The script was written by Nicole Elmer.
Jorge’s co-created projects span from thrillers, to horror, to arthouse dramas. Working with Nicole, these works have been selected in the Frontières/Fantasia Co-production Market (2020) for genre film, as a top-entrant semifinalist in the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition – Horror Category (2019), the Cine Qua Non Lab Story Lines (2021), the 2020 NALIP Latino Media Market (National Association for Latino Independent Producers), Hubert Bals Fund pre-selection (2018), and second round in the Sundance Development Track (2019).
Jorge has produced three independent features including In the Shadow, What’s the Use?, and The Transcendents. Jorge is a professional editor with a specialty in virtual reality (VR). He has shot operas for Bayerische Staatsoper and Opera Köln in Germany.
Currently Jorge is the acquisitions manager and producer at Harald House, a company based in Antwerp.
