Zagreb, September 22 2022. – Applications are open for TV Writing Contest, a competition for the best television script with the finals taking place as part of the NEM Zagreb 2022, held at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel from 7 to 9 December 2022.
Writers can apply to participate in “scripted” series competition (drama, thriller, crime, fantasy, Sci-Fi and comedy) and “unscripted” formats (games, reality shows, docuseries). Local and international writers will have the opportunity to present their creativity to a panel of distinguished judges, representatives of major production houses, national television channels and European TV industry festivals. Production houses that confirmed their representatives as jury members are Beta Film, Sony Pictures Television, Rai, Zig Zag Productions, Script Angel, Radio televizija Srbije (RTS), and CineLink Industry Days, the creative branch of the Sarajevo Film Festival. The judges will provide feedback on every project submitted through the application process. It is this opportunity to receive feedback from experienced professionals that makes TV Writing Contest special.
Unique education and networking opportunity that offers money awards
All screenwriters can take part in the competition regardless of their experience level or stage of project, a good idea and writing skills are most important. All applicants participating in the contest can also participate in NEM TV Market Zagreb 2022, a three-day event packed with events and networking opportunities.
There is every reason to apply for this contest. All 20 finalists, or 10 finalists from each of the two categories, will be invited to a private event where they can meet the panel members. The panel members and visitors will have access to participants’ contact details, and the finalists will also win access to NEM Dubrovnik 2023 free of charge! The authors of the three best projects in each category will also have the mentioned opportunities with additional benefits:
The winners of both “scripted” and “unscripted” categories will each win an award of 3 000 Euros.
In addition to the TV Writing Contest, TV projects can also be submitted to the Content Showcase – a new addition to the NEM Zagreb programme. Content Showcase includes several short presentations by leading European and regional companies to promote their projects, which may be at any stage of the project, from pitching to financing to airing.
Promoting creativity in the regional TV industry
In December 2022, NEM Zagreb 2022 will become the central spot for representatives of successful FTA televisions, pay-tv channels and streaming services, producers, directors, actors, scriptwriters, producer companies and agencies, and other creators of TV content. With the motto of “All about content creation” the event will be focusing on the creativity in TV industry and projects relevant for CEE Europe.
Panel discussions, presentations, premiere showings of new television series, education and unique networking opportunities with TV industry professionals are part of every New Europe Marketa (NEM) event. NEM Zagreb focuses on the CEE region and countries with low production capacity in the region in order to help connect audio-visual professionals and important decision makers in Europe. During the weeks preceding the event, there will be a special workshop offered by Script Angel and lecturer Hayley McKenzie to help creative individuals develop their scriptwriting skills.
