Film and television director Žiga Virc graduated from the Academy of Theatre, Radio and Television in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He was voted finalist for best foreign short film for the Student Academy Awards in 2010, for his short film Trieste Is Ours! Virc has directed numerous commercials, documentary and fiction films, for which he has received numerous awards. He is experienced in a cross-platform approach, and some of his works have gone viral internationally. His work combines a dramatic visual style with a detailed approach to narrative structure, which makes it appealing to a broad audience. His first feature film “Houston, we have a problem!” was premiered at the Tribeca film festival in New York and released in the cinemas, gaining huge media coverage. He was listed among 245 most successful Slovenes by the Manager business magazine.
