Željko Vela was born on July, 16th, 1969 in Makarska. This sociology graduate and sociology professor, with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, went through all the forms and types of journalism.
He worked as a commentator during the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens and in 2008 in Beijing, and he also worked as a commentator during the FIFA World Cup in 1998 in France, in 2002 in Japan and South Korea, in 2006 in Germany, in 2010 in South Africa and in 2014 in Brasil. He also commentated and reported live from many European and World Championships in athletics, ski jumping, handball… He was a TV Project Manager for Zlatni medvjed 2004 (first broadcast from Sljeme), FIFA World Cup 2010. Along with that, he was the Editor of the Sports Program of HTV from 2004 – 2007, Sports Editor at Arenasport Croatia from 2010 – 2011, and Sports Editor at Nova TV from 2011 – 2015. Except for sports journalism, he reported about the consequences of the terrorist attacks in Madrid in 2004, he commentated on weekly social and political events on Nova TV from 2013 – 2015. Currently he works as a Football Commentator on SportKlub Hrvatska and does business consulting.
