TOM FONTANA ANNOUNCED THE FILMING OF THE NEW SERIES

Third edition of the New Europe Market Has already fulfilled the expectations on the first day Dubrovnik.

NEM 2015 started in style after the panel room was filled by the world’s top producers Tom Fontana, Bonita Pietila, Nigel McCrery and Peter Nadermann. After the panelists shared their experiences as showrunners and series authors in an interesting debate for all the attendees moderated by Ankica Jurić Tilić, NEM’s presenter Aaron Heslehurst joined the audience in asking the questions which the panelists gladly answered. During the panel Tom Fontana discovered that he is working on the new series Killing Fields, a reality show during which he will visit the scenes of unsolved murders and investigate the case.

NEM’s first day started with a panel for which seats were in high demand, Who’s paying who? During the panel Saša Runjić, program director on the Croatian Television, Saša Kramar, chairman of the board of Iskon and Guy Bisson, director of research of Ampere Analysis entered a heated debate about the relation between the classic networks and new platforms, which was moderated by Nikola Francetić, a head of the Content, Media and Broadcasting department of Telekom Austria Group. Scott Ehrlich, the director of the platform QYOU, Christina Foley, director of Sales and marketing of Playboy TV UK and György Bálint, director of sales of AMC Networks for Central Europe continued in the same tone, moderated by Vedran Perišić, operating director of Fight Channel.

On the panel How does Pay-TV handle the crisis? They decided that the new platforms have more and more need to produce original content despite the financial problems in the market. On the third panel of the day, How much are sports rights really worth?, the experts on this popular topic Bruno Kovačević, manager of the production department for Sports on the Croatian Television, Vuk Mitrović, director for the Eastern Europe in Pitch International, Amory B. Schwartz, director of QYOU International LTD and the moderator Ivan Blažičko, director of Sports Dimension pointed out that, even though the national networks can no longer provide the ever expensive rights for sports events, they will always be sold to new platforms.

And to save the best for last, the panel that intrigued the members of the New Europe Market the most, The match made out of coproduction heaven. The panel featured world’s top producers, Tom Fontana, author of Oz and Borgia, Bonita Pietila, producer of the Simpsons, Nigel McCrery, author of the Silent Witness and Peter Naderman, director of Nadcon and the producer of the Millenium trilogy. The debate was moderated by producer and cofounder of Kinorama, Ankica Jurić Tilić, who has just returned from Cannes after the success of the movie Zvizdan (The High Sun).

Participants of the NEM 2015 enjoyed the refreshing moments on the beautiful NEM terrace during the Cedevita Refreshment Moment and Coffee break of the Croatian Telekom. The successful day ended by the sun and a Welcome drink from Fox International Channels.
