Croatia is expecting the most important reform of the media law package in the last ten years, which should, according to some announcements, dramatically change the role and position of the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), and not only within the Croatian media landscape – this reform is supposed to place HRT at the very center of cultural and creative industries and processes in Croatia and beyond. Everyone agrees that the existing legal solutions are inadequate or outdated, given the completely changed media landscape – both European and international. Will the long-awaited changes finally bring Croatia to the digital media age and launch its audio-visual industry globally, or will they even more firmly cement HRT's position as a “sleeping giant”?
