Marija Nemčić

She graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. She has worked for TVZ (Zagreb Television) since 1986 on the editorial board of “Zagrebačka Panorama”. As a young journalist she participated in TVZ’s special projects “Animavizija” and “Jazzvizija”. She produced the full day programme “Zimovizija” with editor V. Đuretić. This was the foundation for the Z3 Channel.

After the constitution of HRT (Croatian Radiotelevision) at the beginning of the 90s, she created and edited HTV2 (Croatian Television’s second channel) alongside V. Đuretić, Đ. Hađžiselimović, K. Urličić and Z. Varošanec. She helped create the programme “Za slobodu” with M. Lilić , and she launched and hosted “Mozaični program.” On June 27, 1992 she co-hosted the very first episode of “Dobro jutro, Hrvatska”. As the editor-in-chief of HTV from 1992 to 1995, the youngest in its history, she launched a series of mosaic and entertaining shows.

She was one of the founders of the “Porin“ Award. Since 1995 she has held different senior positions: she ran HRT’s International Affairs (1995-2000, 2002-2004, 2007-2010), was HTV’S Programme Director (2000-2002), HTV’s Director (2004-2007), the assistant of HTV’s Director (2010-2013), and the Director of HRT’S Production (2013-2016). She presided over EBU’s TV Committee and its Staff Board. She taught Journalism at the Faculty of Political Science and the Centre for Croatian Studies. She launched and took part in creating complex and prestigious entertainment projects (Pope John Paul II’s visit, the parade to commemorate “Oluja” at Jarun, Croatia’s accession to the EU, the opening ceremony for the Zagreb-Split Highway, various humanitarian projects (“Dajmo da čuju,” “Hrvatska pomaže,” “Dobro je činiti dobro,” “Derbi,” “A bebe,” “Kvadrat bez mina,” “Hoću život Ana Rukavina”) and so on. She holds the Homeland War Memorial medal, the Order of the Croatian Trefoil medal, and the Legion of Honour medal for special services.
