Ivan Blažičko was born in October 1961. He graduated in political sciences in Zagreb and in 1985 started working at TV Zagreb.
In 1987, he became a permanent member of its sports programme, which he lead as editor-in-chief during its golden years, from 1994 to 1999.
He was a war reporter and was in charge of numerous special projects such as World and European Football Cups, Olympic Games etc.
In autumn 2000, after the Sydney Olympics, he joined the newly launched Nova TV and played an important role in establishing the first serious commercial TV channel in Croatia.
In 2004, he returned to Croatia Radiotelevision, where he was once again in charge of major projects, and from 2011 he worked in private companies dealing with sports TV rights.
In 2006, he launched HNTV – Croatian Football Television – the only available sports channel completely in Croatian ownership, dedicated mostly to Croatian football.
He is still working as a football commentator and is also recognizable in Croatia as the „voice of Formula 1“, a sport he has been commenting on for 30 years already.
He received numerous awards for his work, and in 2014 he was awarded the City of Zagreb Award for special contribution to sports in Croatia’s capital.
Ivan Blažičko is without a doubt one of the most informed and knowledgeable people in Croatia when it comes to sports TV rights, considering he went though a full circle of being a journalist, purchaser of rights, distributor of rights, and finally, TV channel owner.
