ADVERTISING: WHEN IS IT TOO MUCH?

It is definitely hard to be objective regarding advertising, so how can we make a profit from advertising without losing viewers? Are we trying too hard to reach the audience? How much is too much? How can we advertise on a level that does not irritate the audience and can new tools help us with that mission? Which kind of advertising is better – a direct approach or the one that leans towards native?
