The last, third day of New Europe Market, one of the biggest conferences focused on television industry, has seen some interesting panels about trends such as channels bundling and female leaders in this dynamic field. To spice it all up, Podravka has presented its new series „Croatia’s Finest“ with MasterChef winner Dhruv Baker.

NEM guests had the chance to hear first-hand about a new project – a travel log called „Croatia’s Finest“, sponsored by Podravka. Dhruv Baker, British MasterChef winner, explained the path to the taping of this soon-to-be-seen series that consists of 20 episodes. „Croatia’s Finest“ will show the culinary and tourist side of Croatia, pointing out the best of Croatia’s nature in places like Zagreb, Brač, Virovitica and other beautiful places. After the presentation, Dhruv Baker and Chef Mihael Tokić cooked for the NEM guests some of their specialties.

NEM 2016 was the biggest market so far, considering panel guest and business opportunities. This was proven with the announcement about VICE’s expansion, as well as the released information about a new partnership Ginx has finalized with Sky and ITV involving the launch of the first UK 24-hour eSport Channel. With three great parties organized by FOX Networks Group, Viasat World and VICE, guests were able to network with people from the global television industry, exchange newest information and do business together.

The second day of New Europe Market saw amazing discussions on new technologies and content revivals, a happy SpongeBob mingling with the attendees, a Hendricks Gin Cocktails filled happy hour and an exclusive announcement during the breathtaking party in the old town of Dubrovnik.

NEM 2016’s second day started with a delightful VIACOM Coffee Break, during which NEM’s visitors were able to mingle and take pictures with the real-sized SpongeBob Squarepants, who aroused loads of emotion on the NEM terrace.

During a day full of discussions on topics about new technologies and it’s challenges, Apostolos Triantafyllou, Senior Vice-President of Sales for DACH, CE Europe, Israel, Caucasus and Central Asia of Eutelsat, pointed out during the panel Is DTH Ready For OTT Challenge? that clients often compliment OTT, but today’s trend is mainly focused on better quality. Satellites have a prominent role here, mainly because clients don’t care how they are getting the content – and if they don’t care, then the traffic of content should be based in more reliable and quicker delivery ways. „We are ready to deliver OTT, and only we can do it“. The panel was followed by refreshing coffee break courtesy of Eutelsat.

Temma-X, the Slovenian production experts and NEM 2016 technical partners, hosted a happy hour with a little liquid help from Hendrick’s Gin refreshing cocktails, during which they introduced a virtual reality gadget made for everybody’s pocket.

The day was concluded in the old town, at the beautiful club Lazareti, where VICE not only hosted a party to remember, but also surprised the attendees with exclusive information for the region. Dimitra Kontogianni, Managing Director for VICE Serbia, exclusively announced VICE will soon expand to our region, and will be available in almost all the countries of the Balkan region.

The 4th edition of New Europe Market, where TV industry professionals gather once a year in Dubrovnik, kicked off on Tuesday with prestigious discussions where top industry influencers discussed current media scene. Leading professionals from all over the world thrilled visitors with their views on ever growing media scene and their sectors.

After an impressive digital introduction to NEM 2016, the programme officially started. The role of presenter 3rd year in a row was given to Aaron Heslehurst, a longtime BBC World and BBC News Channel television presenter. Witty as always, Heslehurst made few jokes and relaxed the audience for a day full of useful information. Brilliant introduction to this year’s NEM was made possible when Christoph Mainusch stepped on the stage as a keynote speaker and talked about the importance of linear TV and the future of TV in digital surrounding.

NEM 2016’s first day was marked by the global premiere of the series The Paper. After the amazing episode only NEM 2016 attendees got to watch exclusively, the director Dalibor Matanić, the producers Nebojša Taraba and Miodrag Sila, and their star actress Tihana Lazović talked about the realistic approach to an always interesting and controversial theme, a newsroom.

NEM 2016’s first day was closed with the spectacular Viasat World party, where London Essentials stole the show and kept everybody on their feet until the early hours of the morning.
